Green Works

The ECOS Urban Outdoor Discovery Program is held during the Fall and the Spring.  Participating 4th – 8th graders take part in field trips to urban parks, hikes, bird watching, identification of native trees and plants, water quality testing, solid waste and recycling projects, and a ride on the Missouri River. The experiential and developmentally appropriate ECOS program includes self-awareness, mindfulness activities, and social and relational engagement. We focus on a local framework around the question “what makes a neighborhood healthy for people and nature?” to build confidence and agency in our student’s toward exploring and impacting their worlds. We also take 2-3 hour ECOS programs on the road to a variety of schools and community centers.
