Preferred Family Healthcare, Inc. (PFH) delivers a broad array of programming that engages youth, adults and families in prevention, outpatient and residential treatment, school and community-based programs, supportive housing, therapeutic arts and virtual counseling. PFH provides adolescent outpatient and residential substance use disorder treatment in 12 communities in Missouri including Jackson County. In 2018, PFH developed in collaboration with the Independence school district the School-based Therapeutic Empowerment Prevention Uplift Project (STEP UP), which provides an integrated prevention and treatment program to students in 1 middle and 1 high school who are deemed at risk for substance use and/or mental health problems.
