Individual therapy offers children a safe space to express their feelings, while family therapy strengthens communication and relationships, creating a nurturing home environment.
Co-parenting therapy equips parents with the skills they need to collaborate effectively, especially during transitions like divorce. For families facing challenges such as absent parents, supervised visitation creates a safe space for reconnection. Empowering Parents KC also offers resources and guidance, ensuring parents feel equipped to support their children during tough times.
Making an Impact Together
Our partnership with Empowering Parents KC has expanded their reach and enhanced their capacity to serve families in Jackson County. Through Core Funding, they have been able to maintain essential services and develop new programs tailored to the challenges families face. Capacity Building funds supported staff training and strategic planning while the technology support allowed for smart Tv’s, new computers and printers to streamline operations. They are now better equipped for training and strategic planning, allowing their team to focus more on the families they serve.

One notable case involved a child who faced multiple challenges, including serious health issues and abuse at home. After a difficult battle with cancer and achieving remission, this child sadly began to experience abuse. Through Empowering Parents KC’s comprehensive therapy services, the child was able to process their trauma and access essential tools for healing. Their work goes beyond immediate therapy, encompassing a holistic approach to family dynamics that seeks justice for all involved. The team uses evidence-based practices to guide families through their journeys, ensuring everyone receives the education and resources needed to navigate complex emotional challenges. This therapeutic process addresses not only the child’s needs but also those of the parents, helping them manage uncertainties during such difficult times.
